About the Role
Working closely with the Community Team, the successful candidate will play a key role in fostering positive and constructive relationships between Talison Lithium and local Aboriginal Corporations and their communities. This will be achieved through effective administration of the Talison Indigenous Participation Plan and by supporting the development of strategies that promote cultural understanding, sustainable partnerships, and other agreements.
Based in Greenbushes, this role also contributes to the delivery of the Stakeholder Engagement Management Plan and the annual Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations Business Plan, including budget objectives. The Aboriginal Engagement Advisor will help build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, while supporting the positive promotion of Greenbushes Lithium Operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Foster respectful relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal communities, and representative organisations;
- Provide cultural engagement advice and maintain systems for effective internal communication;
- Facilitate consultation processes around project development, land access, and heritage management;
- Coordinate cultural awareness training, NAIDOC Week, and other relevant events;
- Support compliance with legislation, agreements, and company policies relating to Aboriginal heritage;
- Manage and implement the Talison Indigenous Participation Plan;
- Collaborate with Aboriginal organisations to guide engagement principles and explore opportunities in employment, training, and business development;
- Assist with forming the proposed Talison Aboriginal Advisory Group and coordinate meeting logistics;
- Develop engagement plans and integrate them into broader stakeholder and community frameworks;
- Assist with heritage surveys and community interaction tracking via the Stakeholder Management System;
- Contribute to the Talison Partnerships Program and support promotional and community events, including the annual Mine Open Day; and
- Assist in developing and implementing Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations Plans and Budgets (OPEX & CAPEX).
About the Candidate
- Proven experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities;
- Qualifications or experience in Indigenous and community engagement;
- Skilled in cross-cultural collaboration and project delivery;
- Experience negotiating and implementing local agreements;
- Knowledge of cultural heritage laws, including the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA);
- Familiar with Indigenous Land Use Agreements, especially under the Southwest Native Title Settlement;
- Strong communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and Excel;
- Understanding of stakeholder engagement and agreement-making protocols; and
- Capable in event planning, project management, and budgeting.
Optional/preferred
- Tertiary qualifications in community development, Indigenous studies, social science, or a related discipline;
- Experience in the mining or resources sector.

The incumbent should have or will be required to obtain the following competencies:
- Apply First Aid;
- A current driver’s license; and
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
