About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Asset Integrity Engineer, the purpose of this position is to ensure the structural and mechanical integrity of fixed plant assets through the development and management of inspection, monitoring, and compliance programs. The role focuses on maintaining the safety, reliability, and statutory compliance of critical equipment including tanks, vessels, piping, lifting devices, conveyors, crushers, and structural components, in line with Western Australian Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, Australian Standards, and site asset management procedures.
Responsibilities include
- develop and maintain compliance registers, inspection schedules, and documentation for statutory and safety-critical assets in line with WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022, Australian Standards, and OEM requirements;
- coordinate and oversee inspections, certifications, NDT activities, and third-party assessments, ensuring timely remediation and post-shutdown compliance;
- review inspection findings, assess asset condition, and recommend corrective actions, life extension strategies, and defect elimination programs;
- provide technical expertise on fitness-for-service, corrosion management, and risk-based prioritisation of defects to maintain asset integrity and reliability;
- act as the key contact for regulators, auditors, and inspection bodies, and liaise with internal stakeholders to align compliance and operational needs;
- drive continuous improvement by introducing innovative inspection technologies, enhancing methodologies, and contributing to risk registers and integrity-related initiatives;
- maintain accurate engineering records and deliver clear reporting on compliance status, integrity risks, and improvement opportunities; and
- support training and coaching for staff on inspection standards, defect reporting, and asset integrity awareness.
About the Candidate
- bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline;
- solid knowledge of structural and mechanical integrity for fixed plant assets, with the ability to apply Australian Standards, OEM specifications, and statutory requirements;
- experience in fitness-for-service assessments, defect analysis, and risk-based inspection methodologies, supported by proficiency in advanced inspection techniques (e.g., NDT, ultrasonic testing, thermography);
- competency in asset integrity systems, compliance registers, and CMMS platforms (SAP or equivalent), with the ability to develop inspection schedules and statutory programs;
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret inspection data, assess risks, and recommend effective corrective actions or life extension strategies;
- skilled in Root Cause Analysis (RCA/ICAM) investigations, audit preparation, and clear technical reporting for diverse stakeholders;
- excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, combined with the ability to manage multiple compliance obligations and prioritise tasks based on risk; and
- a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, including introducing new technologies and mentoring others in asset integrity practices.
