About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Environment and Community, the successful candidate will provide expert support and guidance on regulatory, licensing, permitting, and compliance matters for Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes Operation. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with environmental licence monitoring requirements and in leading the monitoring team. As a key contributor to Talison Lithium’s environmental performance, the position influences best practice and service delivery across the Site.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • implement and regularly review site-specific Dust, Noise, and Water Management Plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards;
  • provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement;
  • lead investigations into safety and environmental incidents, ensuring corrective actions are identified, assigned, and closed out in a timely manner;
  • develop and deliver safety and environmental training programs, including toolbox talks, to promote awareness and best practices across the workforce;
  • conduct site tours and provide accurate safety and environmental information to internal and external stakeholders as required;
  • prepare and submit statutory and internal reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant legislation and organisational protocols;
  • coordinate the activities of consultants and contractors to ensure alignment with safety objectives and business plan outcomes;
  • liaise with government agencies, industry bodies, and community stakeholders to maintain strong and transparent working relationships; and
  • contribute to budget planning through accurate forecasting of safety-related expenditure.

 

About the Candidate

  • Tertiary Degree in Environment, Engineering, Earth Sciences or equivalent;
  • minimum of five years’ relevant experience within the mining or heavy industry sectors;
  • strong technical expertise in environmental management, monitoring, and compliance;
  • thorough understanding and practical application of environmental legislation, standards, and regulatory frameworks;
  • experienced in implementing and maintaining environmental management systems, including the development and review of procedures and plans for effective execution;
  • proven ability to supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to team members;
  • strong written and verbal communication skills with proven experience in engaging stakeholders and working collaboratively across diverse environments; and
  • proficient in the use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing applications for reporting and data management.

 

Competencies

The incumbent should have the following competencies:

  • current ‘C’ class Drivers Licence; and
  • Provide first aid.
