About the Role

To support the ongoing expansion of our Greenbushes Lithium Operation, an opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Work Health & Safety (WHS) Superintendent - Health, Hygiene, Security & Emergency Management (HHSEM), reporting to our WHS Manager. This position is of crucial importance to Talison and a great opportunity for skills, experience, and influence to be applied to support the delivery of our strategic priorities.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across health, hygiene, security and emergency management, while leading a team of technical professionals to drive a proactive WHS culture across the Greenbushes Operation. Working collaboratively with operational leaders, internal stakeholders, government agencies and the local community, you will play a key role in ensuring Talison meets its WHS, regulatory and community commitments.

This role is based at our Greenbushes operation on a residential 5:2 roster. Flexible work arrangements are available, and the successful candidate will be provided with company housing (where required) and a company vehicle for work purposes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of technical HHSEM professionals to foster a positive work environment that delivers quality outcomes for operational customers;
  • Coaching direct and indirect reports to actively identify areas for individual and team-based learning and development;
  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders such as operational leaders and government bodies along with industry and community groups;
  • Developing, implementing and governing strategic health and hygiene plans, emergency response & security procedures and systems;
  • Managing Talison’s Safety, Hygiene & Health Regulatory reporting processes;
  • Maintaining a secure workplace for our Site personnel; and
  • Preparation and monitoring of budgets including cost management.

About the Candidate:

The following qualification/s and competencies are considered desirable for this position:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety (minimum);
  • Certificate IV in Emergency Response Coordination (or equivalent); and
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

The incumbent should have skills and/or experience in:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a senior WHS leadership role within the mining industry is preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience leading health, hygiene, security and emergency management teams;
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of workplace security, including security risk assessment, access control and surveillance systems, and the oversight of contracted security providers;
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with WHS regulators, including managing statutory notifications, inspections and regulatory notices;
  • Building productive working relationships by developing and using collaborative approaches to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals and objectives; and
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams and influencing safety culture across complex operational environments.
