About the Role:

Reporting to the Water Treatment Plant Process Engineer, the successful candidate will provide technical and operational support for the day-to-day requirements of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Arsenic Removal Unit (ARU) operations. The Role is for collection of data, testing, analysing and to evaluate the process performance of the plant.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • report on plant performance as required by WTP Process Engineer and line Manager.
  • daily review and reporting on plant chemistry and plant performance;
  • managing electrical and mechanical maintenance reporting;
  • directing appropriate plant sampling and review of data;
  • assisting process engineer in investigation of plant performance improvements;
  • reviewing chemical usage for optimal plant performance;
  • ensure that all operations and tasks are carried out safely and in accordance with company safety policies and work procedures;
  • managing daily consumable inventory and reporting;
  • provide support to WTP Operators; and
  • provide support to WTP process engineer and Coordinator and communicate issues;

 

About the Candidate:

  • the incumbent should have the following skills and/or experience:
  • five years relevant industry service and operational experience in water treatment;
  • significant field water treatment experience including  water pre-treatment, clarification, ultra filtration, reverse osmosis and optionally thermal processes;
  • high-level written and verbal communication skills;
  • knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation ;
  • dangerous goods management;
  • strong job safety analysis and risk assessment skills
  • good knowledge of MS Office programs.
  • proven ability to investigate operational issues of equipment and process;
  • ability to interact and coordinate with operators and maintenance crew:
  • proven experience with PLC Scada systems and ability to extract trended information.
  • reporting as requested by management;
  • ability to calibrate instruments and chemical dosing drawdown;
  • some experience with membrane recovery and permeability calculation;
  • water sampling, testing and analysing;
  • data collection of WTP and ARU for plant performance analysis and reporting;
  • managing chemical stock level and reporting; and
  • good understanding of water treatment chemistry for primary and tertiary water treatment;

 

Competencies:

The incumbent should have the following competencies:

•             Apply First Aid; and

•             current ‘C’ class Driver’s License.
