About the Role:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the site’s maintenance function to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective performance of all fixed plant assets. The role provides strategic direction, leadership and governance over planning, execution and continuous improvement of maintenance activities, with a strong focus on asset integrity, statutory compliance, workforce capability and alignment with operational and business objectives.

Talison owns and operates the Greenbushes Lithium Operation (Greenbushes, Site, Mine) including extensive processing facilities. The role oversees maintenance activities for; three (3) crushers, five (5) processing plants and a Centralised Tailings Pumping Station (CTPS).

About the Plant:

Crusher 1 (CR1) is a four-stage crushing circuit providing fine ore for two processing plants. Nominal crushing capacity is 2.2 mtpa. The circuit utilises a C160 single-toggle jaw crusher, Nordberg 1560 Omnicone secondary and tertiary cone crushers and a duty/standby quaternary cone crushers. The crusher operates in campaigns, crushing separate quality ore for Technical Grade Plant (TGP) and Chemical Grade Plant 1 (CGP1).

TGP is fed from CR1 and produces a range of low-volume high quality products for the glass and ceramics industry. The TGP circuit includes two ball mills, five (5) sizing screens, a gravity circuit consisting of spirals and wet table, a fluid bed classifier, flotation circuit, high and low intensity magnets, filters and fluid bed driers. Annual feed capacity is in the region of 350 kt.

CGP1 is also fed from CR1 and produces a 6.0% Li2O product feedstock for lithium chemicals production by our customers. CGP1 equipment includes two (2) ball mills, flat bed classifiers, screens, cyclones, a dense media circuit, flotation, filtration, a tailings thickener, high and low intensity magnetic separators, spirals and wet tables. The circuit has been upgraded over the 10 year life and currently has a feed capacity of 1.8 mtpa feed.

Crusher 2 (CR2) and Crusher 3 (CR3) are two-stage crushers both with a C160 single-toggle jaw and a Nordberg cone crusher in closed look with a double deck sizing screen. The crushing circuits have an annual capacity of approximately 2.8 mtpa.

Chemical Grade Plant 2 and 3 are of similar design, each has a dedicated crusher (CR2 and CR3) and each processing plant produces a 6.0% Li2O product similar to CGP1. Both plants include high pressure grinding rolls, a dense media circuit, four (4) flat bed classifiers, screens, cyclones, flotation circuits, filtration, thickeners, high and low intensity magnetic separators, spirals and wet tables. Current feed capacity of CGP2 is 2.0 mtpa feed. CGP3 will commence first-ore commissioning during Q4 2025.

The Tailings Retreatment Plant (TRP) retreats historical tailings to produce a 6.0% Li2O product. The plant has a simpler circuit and is designed specifically to retreat historical tailings. Reclaimed tailings is treated through a scrubber, high and low intensity magnetic separators, a crossflow classifier, cyclones, flotation circuits and filtration. Current sustainable feed rate exceeds is approximately 2 mtpa.

The CTPS provides tailings pumping for all of the processing plants. The CTPS combines tailings from all plants through an agitated tank and transfers the combined streams to a tailings dam.
