About the Role

Reporting to the Metallurgical Technician Team Leader, this position plays a key role in supporting production through both technical expertise and practical, hands on work. Working on an 8&6 roster, 10‑hour days, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine and developmental sampling, assisting with plant surveys, and undertaking metallurgical laboratory analysis. This role is essential in ensuring accurate data collection, contributing to process improvements, and helping drive overall plant performance.

Responsibilities include:

• performing routine sampling and calibration of online elemental analysers;
• collecting plant survey samples as required to assist with process evaluation;
• preparing samples for submission to the analytical laboratory and processing associated electronic paperwork;
• carrying out daily final product moisture sampling to support accurate production monitoring;
• conducting laboratory assessments and preparing clear, accurate test reports;
• undertaking laboratory research under the guidance of the Metallurgical Laboratory Team Leader;
• performing belt cuts as needed;

providing support during plant commissioning activities; and

• writing and reviewing procedures to ensure accuracy and continuous improvement.

About the Candidate:

• brings a positive and proactive approach to safety;
• able to work independently and unsupervised, as well as collaboratively within a larger team;
• possesses strong organisational skills and attention to detail;
• capable of effective problem‑solving and data analysis;
• experienced with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
• familiar with metallurgical laboratory environments and equipment; and
• understands key factors and principles relating to metallurgical sampling.
