About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Process Development, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of improving lithium processing plant runtime by identifying and eliminating plant downtime events. Leveraging on your expertise in mineral processing operation, and data analytics, you will work with a highly skilled production team to optimise production processes, focusing on increasing plant runtime.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyse plant downtime events to identify trends and root causes, with a strong focus on maximising plant runtime.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and other support teams to implement sustainable solutions that improve plant runtime.
- Use your expertise in mineral processing and data analytics (PowerBI, Tableau, NLP etc.) to uncover areas for improvement and provide actionable insights.
- Develop and manage project justifications, including writing capital applications, to secure resources for plant improvement initiatives.
- Monitor the financial impacts of downtime reduction strategies and recommend solutions that maximise plant efficiency.
- Ensure the safety, health, and environmental aspects of all proposed modifications and improvement projects are thoroughly considered.
- Track and report on runtime trends and plant performance, providing regular summaries and performance insights to stakeholders.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of business improvement initiatives and working towards maximising runtime.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or STEM-related degree preferred.
- Relevant experience in a processing environment, preference in optimising plant runtime.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency.
- Expertise in data analytics and visualisation technologies (PowerBI, Tableau, NLP, etc.) to derive insights and support process improvements.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to present findings and secure support for improvement initiatives.
- Expertise in conducting thorough root cause analysis using structured methodologies to identify and resolve underlying issues to ensure sustainable improvements.
- Proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable
- Ability to manage project justifications and write capital applications to fund downtime reduction projects.
- Experience in project and stakeholder management and driving improvements.
