About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the Plant Metallurgist is responsible for monitoring, optimising and improving plant performance to achieve and exceed production targets safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This is a permanent, full-time position working an attractive 8:6 roster, located in Greenbushes and offered as either a DIDO or residential opportunity.

Working across one of the world's largest and most technically advanced lithium processing operations, you will play a key role in supporting operational performance through metallurgical expertise, process optimisation, production reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • provide metallurgical support to operations teams, including troubleshooting, process optimisation and production target attainment;
  • monitor plant performance, product quality and ore/feed blends to maximise recovery and throughput;
  • maintain metallurgical accounting systems and prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports;
  • identify, lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, plant trials and optimisation projects;
  • collaborate with production, maintenance, laboratory and shipping teams to achieve operational objectives; and
  • contribute to safety performance through risk assessments, incident investigations and safe work practices.

About the Candidate:

  • degree qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Minerals Science or a related discipline;
  • minimum 2-3 years' experience in a metallurgical or mineral processing environment;
  • sound understanding of wet and dry mineral processing and metallurgical sampling practices;
  • strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills;
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;
  • effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills; and
  • a proactive approach to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
