About the Role

Due to ongoing expansion, we’re excited to offer two new opportunities to join our dynamic laboratory team at the Greenbushes Lithium Operation. Reporting to the Laboratory Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely analytical services that support a wide range of operations, including mining, internal and external refineries, shipping, water treatment, and environmental monitoring.

This is a Drive-In, Drive-Out (DIDO) role on an 8/6 roster, working 10-hour days, with accommodation provided at our modern, well-equipped camp.

You’ll be supporting a busy geochemical laboratory while also contributing to the selection, installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support of new instrumentation. A strong focus will be placed on expanding capacity and improving quality systems, with key areas including:

  • Sample preparation and robotics
  • XRF, ICP-OES, AAS, IC and water chemistry
  • Sizing analysis, TOC, and LIMS

 

Responsibilities include:

  • leading and mentoring a team of analytical chemists to ensure efficient, accurate, and high-quality laboratory operations;
  • developing, updating, and documenting laboratory procedures to support continuous improvement;
  • driving innovation by identifying opportunities to improve analytical methods and instrumentation;
  • performing complex, non-routine analyses and providing expert technical support to the team;
  • collaborating with instrument and software suppliers to meet evolving technical need;
  • monitoring laboratory equipment performance, coordinating maintenance, and resolving technical issues;
  • involvement with laboratory quality systems to support consistent and reliable results;
  • promoting a culture of safety by identifying risks, implementing improvements, and maintaining compliance with safety standards;
  • conducting safety and quality audits to ensure ongoing compliance and operational excellence; and
  • will provide support during periods when the Laboratory Supervisor is unavailable, as required.

 

About the Candidate

  • minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience, ideally within mineral analysis laboratories;
  • at least 2 years in a supervisory role, with a proven ability to lead and support a team;
  • strong familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, confident with operating, troubleshooting, installing, commissioning, and calibrating equipment;
  • a solid understanding of laboratory safety regulations and compliance standards;
  • experience working within laboratory quality systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams; and
  • a high level of computer literacy, confident using digital tools and systems in a lab environment.

 

Competencies

The incumbent should have or will be required to obtain the following competencies:

  • Tertiary qualification or degree in Chemistry;
  • Statutory Supervisor accreditation (Schedule 26 or equivalent, in compliance with WHS legislation);
  • Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certification – X-Ray Analysis (Restricted);
  • First Aid certification; and
  • C class Driver’s License.
