About the Role:
The Senior Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, providing technical guidance, and driving improvements in Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) across all fixed plant equipment. This role ensures rapid fault resolution, efficient execution of maintenance tasks, and continuous support to frontline maintenance teams. It plays a key role in maintaining plant availability, reducing unplanned downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- ensure compliance with all site safety systems, statutory requirements, and company standards;
- support engineering design reviews and contribute to project scopes;
- provide direct technical support during equipment breakdowns to reduce MTTR;
- lead root cause investigations into unplanned equipment failures;
- support development and review of work scopes and job plans for complex tasks;
- liaise with planners, supervisors, and trades to ensure timely and quality repairs;
- review and verify corrective maintenance activities and technical reports;
- coordinate contractor activities for critical equipment repairs;
- identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to optimize plant availability; and
- ensure compliance with site safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
About the Candidate
The incumbent should have the following skills and/or experience:
- bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent);
- current 'C' Class Driver’s Licence;
- initiative and drive for continuous improvement;
- collaboration and teamwork in multi-disciplinary environments;
- attention to detailed and strong documentation practices;
- ability to prioritise tasks in high-pressure operational environments;
- safety-focused with a strong understanding of risk management in maintenance activities;
- results-driven mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks in a high-paced environment;
- high attention to detail and analytical problem-solving capabilities;
- team leadership and mentoring capability; and
- adaptable and responsive to breakdown situations and operational changes.
