About the Role:

Reporting to the Group General Counsel & Head of External Affairs, the successful candidate will ensure operations meet sustainability and social performance standards. This includes regulatory compliance, stakeholder alignment, and global best practice. The role will lead technical guidance, strategic planning, and performance reporting to support Talison’s Greenbushes Lithium Mine operations and expansion projects.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders, and lead Talison’s stakeholder engagement activities;
  • develop and implement community engagement and social performance policies, aligning SPS priorities with business goals;
  • manage systems to capture community feedback, resolve concerns proactively, and prevent escalation to formal grievances;
  • lead partnerships with Aboriginal Corporations and ensure protection of cultural heritage values, rights, and interests related to Talison’s activities;
  • support regulatory approvals, lead social impact assessments, manage SPS and climate reporting, and ensure compliance with relevant standards;
  • oversee SPS data systems and reporting, and develop long-term strategies to embed sustainability and social performance into business planning;
  • manage community investment initiatives aligned with local aspirations and Talison’s objectives, and support programs that build local skills and long-term community benefits; and
  • oversee SPS budgets, align planning with business goals, and promote a safe, capable working environment.

 

About the Candidate:

  • holds a tertiary qualification in social science, public relations, environmental, engineering, natural science or business discipline;
  • minimum 5–10 years in leadership roles within social performance, sustainability, and project management in the mining sector;
  • proven ability to lead consultations, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and build broad-based support;
  • strong understanding of ESG standards, metrics, reporting expectations, and environmental/social impact assessments;
  • high emotional intelligence, cross-cultural competence, and ability to negotiate and adapt communication styles effectively; and
  • demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and developing team members.
