About the Role:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for ensuring the ongoing integrity, safety, and compliance of all structural assets across the mining operation. This role provides technical leadership in structural inspections, defect management, engineering assessments, design review, and lifecycle planning to support operational continuity, compliance, and risk mitigation. The position plays a key part in supporting maintenance strategies, executing capital projects, and upholding site engineering governance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- conduct structural inspections and assessments of critical assets, including conveyors, platforms, tanks, trestles, and load-bearing structures;
- maintain and update structural defect registers and risk-based inspection schedules;
- develop and manage the Structural Integrity Management Plan (SIMP) and ensure regulatory compliance;
- provide technical review and validation of structural designs, scopes, and calculations for projects maintenance activities;
- support capital projects and brownfield modifications through engineering input and verification;
- liaise with third-party contractors and oversee structural remediation or fabrication works to ensure compliance and quality;
- prepare technical reports, inspection findings, and recommendations for defect rectification or risk mitigation
- collaborate with Maintenance, Projects, and Reliability teams to align structural priorities with operational needs; and
- assist in lifecycle planning and asset management strategies for structural components.
About the Candidate
- bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (with structural focus);
- chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership (highly desirable);
- registered Professional Engineer of Western Australia (RPEng/NER preferred);
- strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, analysis, and design;
- proficiency in structural modelling and engineering software (e.g., SpaceGass, Strand7, AutoCAD, or equivalent);
- ability to interpret and apply relevant Australian Standards (AS 4100, AS 3990, AS/NZS 1170, AS 1657, AS/NZS 5131); and
- excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
