About the Role

Talison are looking for a Training Officer – Processing, to join the Learning and Development team as we continue to drive operational excellence and commission new plants.  

The primary responsibilities of a Process Trainer include:

• development and maintenance of training and assessment tools;
• delivery of task-based role specific training packages both one-on-one and in group settings within the processing plant;
• conduct formative assessments around task-based role specific competencies; 
• facilitation of classroom-based training to large groups;
• conduct Verifications of Competence for both High Risk Work Licences and mobile plant;
• engage with operational supervisors and conduct regular skills gap analysis of teams to collaboratively plan and schedule training and assessments ensuring baseline competencies are maintained for effective day to day operations;
• assist with the maintenance of a skills matrix for the operational processing team;
• drive training compliance to meet legislative requirements; and
• champion safety and a positive workplace culture through positive interactions and leading by example. 

The role includes training Process Operators in the safe and consistent operation of the areas of the crushing and wet processing plant, area inductions and verification of competency of operating plant and equipment.

This is a permanent, full-time position, working an attractive residential roster (8 days on, 6 days off).

About the Candidate

We are looking for a self-motivated and safety focused individual with a positive, solution focussed mindset and a strong passion for passing on skills and knowledge to others to join the Learning and Development team.

To be successful in this role you will ideally be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

• Cert IV Workplace Training and Assessment;
• Cert III Resource Processing (or equivalent)
• Cert IV Work Health and Safety (Desirable)
• Cert IV Leadership and Management (Desirable)
• Current C Class Drivers Licence;
• Nationally recognised training competencies in Front End Loader, Skid Steer Loader and Overhead or Gantry Crane; and
• Current High Risk Licences for

1. Forklift (LF)
2. Elevated Work Platform (WP)
3. Rigging (RB, RI) (Desirable)
4. Dogging (DG) (Desirable)
5. Non Slewing Crane (CN) (Desirable)

To be successful in this role you will ideally need to demonstrate the following experience:

• 5 years experience as a fixed plant operator (with preference to Lithium mineral processing)
• Strong understanding and application of related legislation including Work Health and Safety Act 2020, and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022;
• Well developed skills and exposure to technical training including Design & Development, Mapping and Validation
• Experienced in Job Safety Analysis, Critical Risk Management;
• Experience in using Isolation and Permit to Work systems;
• Experience in classroom facilitation;
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships;
• A willingness to contribute toward the success of your team while supporting a positive team culture;
