About the Role:

Reporting to the Learning and Development Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for achieving and maintaining a high level of operator competency across all process streams in alignment with business needs, while also developing, implementing, and continuously improving the site’s training system. This includes creating and updating training packages, managing competency frameworks, and ensuring assessment processes remain effective, consistent, and fit for purpose.

Responsibilities include:

  • supporting workers to follow structured training plans and schedules to meet operational benchmarks;
  • managing the site training matrix and ensuring all training and assessment records are accurately completed and submitted;
  • developing, maintaining and improving the training system, including standardised work procedures, training packages and assessment tools;
  • delivering engaging group and oneonone training sessions, both theoretical and practical;
  • assessing worker competency through knowledgebased and practical assessments, including Verifications of Competency (VOC) for mobile plant and High-Risk Work Licence activities;
  • participating in Training Needs Analysis (TNA) processes and contributing to the development of area specific inductions; and
  • observing employees to ensure compliance with safety systems and championing continuous improvement in work practices and training quality.

About the Candidate:

  • holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116, TAE40122 or higher), with additional qualifications in WHS or Leadership & Management viewed favourably;
  • brings strong experience as a Trainer/Assessor within fixed plant operations, with the ability to engage and support diverse learners;
  • confident in delivering both classroom based and hands on practical training that is clear, dynamic and impactful;
  • knowledgeable in WHS legislation, including the WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022, with a commitment to safe and compliant operations;
  • exceptional communication skills with highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport and influence positive learning outcomes;
  • technically proficient, with solid Microsoft Office skills and experience developing, mapping and validating quality training materials;
  • experienced in Job Hazard Analysis, Critical Risk Management processes, and working with Isolation and Permit to Work systems;
  • holds a current C Class Driver’s Licence;
  • possesses nationally recognised competencies for Front End Loader, Skid Steer Loader, Telehandler and Overhead/Gantry Crane; and
  • holds High Risk Work Licences including Forklift (LF) and Elevated Work Platform (WP), with additional licences in Rigging (RB/RI), Dogging (DG) and NonSlewing Crane (CN) considered desirable.
