About the Role:

Guided by Talison Values, this role exists to foster a mentally safe and healthy workplace at the Greenbushes Operation. The position supports employee wellbeing through confidential counselling, proactive mental health support, and the identification and mitigation of psychosocial hazards. A key focus is the design and delivery of education initiatives that build awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen the capacity of individuals and teams to support their own wellbeing and that of others.

By building meaningful connections and promoting a culture of psychological safety, this role contributes to a workplace where people feel supported, respected, and empowered to thrive. The incumbent will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, championing a proactive and preventative approach to mental health across all levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities include:

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • provide individual support to employees through a client-centred approach, strengthening mental wellbeing and resilience across physical, psychological, and social domains;
  • plan, develop, and deliver psychoeducational workshops and initiatives across all departments to build mental health awareness and capability;
  • refer individuals to appropriate external services and support networks, ensuring timely and effective access to care;
  • provide outreach services to employees and their families, including after-hours support where required, to complement the Employee Assistance Program (EAP);
  • maintain accurate and confidential case notes in line with organisational reporting and compliance standards;
  • build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, leaders, and external service providers to support mental health and wellbeing outcomes;
  • support departments in creating mentally healthy workplaces through improvements in culture, job design, work organisation, and leadership practices;
  • contribute to the identification, assessment, and review of psychosocial hazards, including participation in formal risk assessments;
  • conduct audits and workplace reviews to assess progress towards a mentally healthy work environment and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • promote mental wellbeing as a site-wide health and safety priority, contributing to a proactive and preventative approach to psychological health; and
  • collaborate with People & Culture and Occupational Health teams in the development, review, and implementation of Talison Mental Wellness and Psychosocial Hazard Risk Assessment procedures.

 

About the candidate:

 

You are a compassionate and experienced mental health professional who is committed to fostering psychologically safe workplaces. With a strong background in counselling and employee wellbeing, you bring a proactive, culturally sensitive, and client-centred approach to supporting individuals and teams. You are confident in managing complex situations, including crisis intervention and psychosocial risk assessment, and are skilled at building trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation. Guided by integrity and professionalism, you are passionate about reducing stigma, strengthening resilience, and contributing to a mentally healthy workplace culture.

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • minimum of 10 years’ experience providing mental wellbeing support services to diverse clients;
  • proven employee assistance experience;
  • skilled in psychosocial hazard identification and risk assessment, particularly in the resource sector;
  • developed skills in suicide risk assessment, crisis intervention, referral pathways, and advocacy; and
  • proficient in spreadsheets, databases, and word processing applications.

 

The Successful Candidate Will Have the Following Qualifications and Competencies:

 

The following qualifications are required or desirable for this position:

 

  • Bachelor-level qualification in Behavioural Sciences, Counselling, or a related Human Services discipline; and
  • Current membership of a leading professional organisation (e.g., ACA, PACFA, ACCA).

 

Competencies & Requirements:

  • current “C” Class Driver’s Licence;
  • current Mental Health First Aid certification;
  • current Working with Children Card;
  • Professional registration with insurance; and
  • Police clearance.
