About the Role:

We are seeking two experienced Payroll Officers / Specialist to join our Remuneration, Benefits and Payroll Team, based at our Head Office in the Perth CBD. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, these roles are offered as permanent, full-time positions, working Monday to Friday.

This is a busy, hands-on role responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 1,000 employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant industrial instruments, legislation, and internal policies and procedures.

In addition to day-to-day payroll operations, the Team is currently implementing a new payroll system, offering the successful candidates the opportunity to contribute to system transition activities, process improvements, and embedding new ways of working.

Key responsibilities of the role include payroll data maintenance, calculating wages and deductions, managing payroll and HR systems, and responding to employee payroll enquiries. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong compliance knowledge, and the ability to work to strict deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • end-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 1,000 employees across monthly and fortnightly pay cycles:
  • accurately calculate and process salaries, wages, bonuses, allowances, overtime, leave, and other entitlements under relevant awards and agreements;
  • create and maintain new starter information, updates to employee master data, and handling terminations and payroll system administration;
  • review and validate timesheets and leave applications, ensuring they are accurate and provide entitlement reports as requested;
  • process workers compensation claims, reconciling reimbursements and manage related correspondence;
  • respond to payroll-related queries from various stakeholders and prepare payroll-related reports;
  • support month-end payroll requirements, including reconciliations and lodgements for Superannuation, Payroll Tax, Child Support and PAYG;
  • maintain the employee self-service system and provide support for end-users;
  • update, document, and maintain payroll procedures;
  • ensure data integrity and payroll compliance to company policies, guidelines, procedures and relevant legislation; and
  • collaborate with stakeholders on process improvements, system implementations, and other strategic payroll initiatives.

 

About the Candidate:

  • demonstrated experience in a similar payroll role;
  • experienced with payroll systems, preferably PayGlobal and/or SAP (SuccessFactors);
  • a solid understanding of Australian payroll regulations and taxation;
  • demonstrated experience interpreting company policies, guidelines and procedures, and enterprise agreements;
  • strong numerical skills and attention to detail with high accuracy in processing data and reporting;
  • proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, troubleshoot, and recommend effective solutions; 
  • ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to an ever-changing environment; and
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
