About the Role:
The Sustainability Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for advancing Talison Lithium’s sustainability performance and ensuring compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) obligations. Based in Perth, this position oversees the end-to-end development and implementation of ESG governance, monitoring, reporting, and disclosure frameworks, ensuring alignment with corporate governance principles and the broader business strategy.
Working closely with the Talison Board and senior leadership, the Sustainability Superintendent will shape and guide ESG strategy across the organisation. This role will influence policy, strengthen organisational capability, and contribute to building resilient, future-focused business models that support Talison’s long-term strategic objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- supporting the development and delivery of sustainability strategies, frameworks and technical sustainability reporting;
- undertaking energy, greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste and materials Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) assessments;
- overseeing the implementation of an appropriate Sustainability Assurance Program as directed by the Talison Board;
- developing and assessing the technical feasibility of initiatives that improve sustainability outcomes, with a strong focus on responsible decarbonisation aligned to business strategy;
- building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships, fostering consensus across industry partners, community groups, government stakeholders and other key influencers;
- ensuring accurate evidence collection, documentation and coordination of sustainability-related data;
- preparing monthly sustainability performance reports and contributing to the annual business planning process, including objectives, targets, operating budgets and capital budgets; and
- reviewing operating and capital expenditure and reporting monthly on variances to plan.
About the Candidate:
- tertiary degree in Environment, Engineering or Physical Sciences.
- proven capability in sustainability leadership, with a strong understanding of ESG governance, reporting frameworks, and performance metrics;
- demonstrates a strategic mindset with the ability to influence, foster collaboration, and drive organisational improvement;
- skilled in managing multiple priorities, applying practical judgment, and engaging confidently with diverse internal and external stakeholders;
- Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of sustainability indices, governance standards, reporting frameworks, and performance metrics;
- leadership experience with the ability to champion change in sustainability initiatives and organisational effectiveness;
- strong analytical capability and pragmatic decision-making developed through managing complex projects; and
- exceptional stakeholder engagement, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to constructively challenge existing practices and influence positive outcomes.
